Discontinuing Photo-books For Now

Cover Photos for Coming Home and Egytpian Dreams photo-books

I’m sad to say that I’ve decided for now at least to discontinue the sale of my photo books. If you didn’t know I offered them, shame on me for not doing a better job pushing that information out there! Background I pushed my first photo book, Egyptian Dreams, into the world in September of 2009. Of my travels, there’s no doubt that my trip to Egypt is still a highlight. And I’m still quite proud of that first foray into books. The folks who purchased it were a mixture … Continue reading

Spreading my Virtual Wings – Guess Where?

Screenshot of my Artist Website courtesy of Fine Art America

Those who follow me on various social networks may be reading this and yawning to themselves thinking “old news,” but it’s a post I’ve kept putting off until I felt there was enough of a presence to justify saying it, but yes, I’ve finally bit the bullet and started uploading my work to Fine Art America in addition to the existing outlets where you can already find it. Those who’ve never read my about prints section may not realize that my existing main gallery is handled by Zenfolio. At the … Continue reading

The Magic of Finished Projects

Collage of some art and photography by Mark E Tisdale

Wow, I wish I had the words to illustrate the elation of finishing a long-standing project, but right now, I’m failing to come up with anything descriptive enough! It’s not hard to believe it was only last year that I started re-visiting the work in my print collections. First with just an eye for improving the descriptions of each work (both for improving the chances of my work being found on search engines and to make it more interesting to viewers). It soon morphed into re-editing some work, and as … Continue reading

Prices – They Are A Changing

Montage of some of my Top Selling Works

It’s no lie that this has been many months in the making, but I decided the time had come to adjust my print pricing strategy. There was a ton of thought behind this, but I’ll do my best to briefly summarize those months of thinking about how best to approach this. Probably one of the most popular ways to price prints is of course, the limited edition approach. I have a list of reason I don’t like this approach, not the least of which is it’s very artificial. Limited edition … Continue reading

Bon Voyage 2011

Open Road Dreams Travel Blog

As many of you know, I’ve been hard at work revisiting all the work in my print collections. Gallery by gallery, I’ve been re-editing work where I felt necessary (which for me is the fun part) and then deciding what prints to include in my revised gallery and re-writing the descriptions of each and every piece. I’m trying to include more details whether I describe the moment or process behind an image or simply why I personally find it special. That latter part is what has taken me so long, … Continue reading

My Website is a Triplicate

Picture of a market in front of a colonial church in Oaxaca Mexico

Howdy Everybody! I figured I would have had some Mexico blog posts with photos and short tales by now but I have gotten side-tracked on some website maintenance along the way. And you know how those type tasks seem to balloon! And balloon is an appropriate metaphor for what happened this time, my website has triplicated! I fear my site combining my personal, travel, and photograph blogs was becoming a bit unfocused, which has implications when you hope to surface when people are searching online. Now, a simple severing of the personal/travel … Continue reading
